about
This group is a safe, neurodiversity-affirming virtual meeting place designed to cultivate connection, authenticity, and growth among Autistic, ADHDer, and AuDHDer adults in Colorado. It’s facilitated by me, Meg McNeil, an Autistic, sensitive, and genderqueer counselor. You can read more about me here.
In this group, you’ll meet and build relationships with other Autistic and ADHDer folks who share similar experiences, allowing us to explore the unique challenges and gifts that come with our neurotypes. Through open conversations and mutual support, you’ll have the opportunity to explore and share your authentic self, reflect on your experiences, and gain new insights into your patterns and emotions.
Whether you’re navigating sensory sensitivities, executive functioning struggles, isolation, social nuances, or dread amidst the sociopolitical climate, this group provides an inclusive environment where folks can process difficulties, celebrate successes, and explore strategies. By connecting with others who truly get it, you’ll leave each session feeling more understood, empowered, and equipped to face the complexities of life as a neurodivergent human in a neurotypical culture.

FAQs
-
A process group is a therapy group that brings individuals with similar identities/backgrounds together for the purpose of exploring and working through common experiences in a safe, loosely facilitated environment.
-
This group is for Autistic, ADHDer, and AuDHDer adults ages 20+ in Colorado. This group is open to members of all identities, though queer/trans individuals are especially encouraged to join.
This group may be right for you if you have the desire to explore building relationships with peers in a therapeutic context and if you’re willing to receive feedback from others. It’s essential that you be willing to share and verbally participate with the group. You will only get out what you put into the group.
-
A process group is not a good fit for individuals who adamantly don’t like being in groups (and aren’t interested in exploring that further), who have an active addiction, who are in crisis, or who are experiencing active psychosis.
-
No. Folks who have self-discovered their Autism and/or ADHD are welcome in the group.
If you’re in a phase of questioning your neurotype or are not sure if you’re Autistic/ADHD, this group will not be the best fit for you - though you would be welcome to circle back to us if you do reach the conclusion that you’re Autistic/ADHD.
-
Research suggests that groups are equally as effective as individual therapy, with the potential to unlock levels of healing/growth that may not be easily accessed through individual therapy (e.g. healing of relationship patterns and dynamics).
More specifically, benefits of group therapy might include a sense of community/connection, increased capacity to be authentic with others, increased self worth, increased self awareness, increased interpersonal skills, new perspectives and strategies for daily living, and/or healing trauma.

Sessions are loosely structured and largely driven by the group members. We’ll generally start with some type of check-in to get everyone’s voice in the space. The bulk of session will be spent on member driven topics. We might discuss general topics (e.g. masking/unmasking) or personal experiences that folks want feedback from the group about. Members might ask me as the facilitator to share content about specific topics related to Autism/ADHD. Depending on what the group prefers, we can build in more or less structure to the group.

The first ‘cohort’ of this group is full and in progress. The second cohort begins Wednesday, April 30th, 2025.
The group does not have a set end date and will be offered in an ongoing capacity. Members can stay in the group for as long as they would like and can leave the group at any time, though my ask is that members try to commit to at least 6 sessions (12 weeks).
-
This group meets online using Google Meet. Once you have committed to the group and completed the paperwork, you will receive the meeting link and the link will be the same for every meeting.
-
Groups will be 6 - 7 members. This size aims to strike a balance between cost effectiveness for members without being an overwhelmingly large group. This size will also give us a nice variety of perspectives and life experiences in the space.

No. Insurance plans often do not cover process groups, so that option isn’t available at this time. The cost is $45 per 85-minute session.
